Question of the Week: BREATHE

How do you remind yourself to breathe?

I think my body tells me to breathe when I have been almost holding my breath. That and seeing something as beautiful as your chime, which instantly made me bring my shoulders down from my ears and take a deep breath!

To take in the beauty of life

Pranayama with a back beat!

Luckily breathing comes without a reminder but to remember to take a deep breath comes when i realize that my body is clenching up.

I work with pediatric patients in the hospital setting at University of MN University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital. When patients feel stressed they are often holding their breath. Recently, the Child-Family Life Specialists have discovered the Haberman Sphere (a ball that expands & contracts) to be a terrific visual for patients & parents to increase coping/comfort and reduce stress/pain. This is especially helpful post-operatively. That's the scoop!

When I get light headed it's a huge reminder to let it go & BREATHE!

Four years ago I was going thru chemo treatments. I would get terribly stressed and the wonderful nurses would remind me to "breathe". Breathe became a mantra and we would repeat it over and over and over to get thru the rough spots..

I decided last year that whenever I'm waiting in line, stuck in traffic, on hold, or get somewhere early, instead of whipping out my cell phone, I'll just breathe. And I'm finding that's plenty enough to keep me busy.

I breathe every time I think of my 4-legged blessings in my life & when I play Candy Crush!

Breathe is my standard response to anyone who is stressing. I use it on myself on a regular basis. A good deep breath soothes a multitude of worries.

Remember to breathe while riding my horse. If I hold my breath, my horse feels it and stops. Such a great reminder to breathe!!!!

Any opportunity to leave my devices behind and get out into nature is a reminder to breathe. When I can slow down and mindfully breathe, I feel deeply connected to my surroundings and enjoy them so much more. I am also very aware of my breath my I run... and I am thankful that I am getting stronger every step of the way.

By doing yoga and learning all the benefits of breathing techniques.

Twice a day, at work, I have set my Outlook reminder to "breathe peace". It reminds me 15 minutes before my 10:00 and 3:00 Breath Break and then at the time. I make myself take the time to stop and take 3 deep breaths, breathing in peace and breathing out peace. It really does not take much time and the benefit is huge! create your own peace!

My body "reminds" me. As soon as I feel myself tense up, I take a" breathe break". doesn't have to be long, and it works wonders.

As I see my sweet little fur ball decline in health, and knowing he has only a short time left with us, I breath deeply and know he has had a good life with us.

I go outside and look at the stars and breathe. Wonderful to be a part of this big, beautiful world!

By holding my breath and feeling the stress.

When I'm walking with 17 first graders following me, we all stand tall and breathe in, then let it out together... and smile

Besides the brain's good ole autonaumic response? I have little round yellow stickers placed in my car, home, work place to remind me to breathe and take a stretch to let the stress of the day out. Funny, stupid, whatever... But works for me.

Just when I'm about to loose it, or give up...I breathe!!

When stress gets things too bottled up it's such a relief to release it all with a deep breath.

I remember to breathe by the need to focus. When I can focus my breath, I am able to face pain, challenges and open my heart to joy!!! just breathe......
